Version 1.0.0 β’ Android 7.0+ β’ Free & Open Source
Device addiction has quietly but steadily crept into our daily livesβand it's only getting worse. As of 2025, the average American spends over 5 hours and 16 minutes on their phone each day. This growing dependence is closely linked to rising rates of depression, anxiety, and declining physical and emotional well-being.
Looking to proven strategies for overcoming addiction, we turned to one of the most effective tools: accountability. When people support each other, meaningful change becomes possible. RotLocker is built on that principle.
RotLocker is a first-of-its-kind app where you lock the apps you want to avoidβand a trusted friend holds the key. Whenever you try to unlock a restricted app, your accountability partner must send you a code. This pause creates space for a conversation, a check-in, and a chance to rethink the impulse that brought you there.
It's simple, human, and designed to help people build healthier habits through support rather than strict self-control alone.
Download the APK and install it on your Android device. Grant the necessary permissions (Accessibility, Overlay, Usage Access).
Your device automatically generates a unique secret key. Find it in "My Secret Key" section.
Give your secret key to a trusted friend who will be your accountability partner. They'll add it to their RotLocker app.
Go to "My Apps" and toggle the lock switch for any apps you want to block (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
When you try to open a locked app, you'll need a code from your accountability partner or the Super Secret Key to unlock it permanently.
π You'll need to enable "Install from Unknown Sources" in your Android settings
βοΈ After installation, grant Accessibility Service, Overlay Permission, and Usage Access
π These permissions are required for the app to detect and block apps
